No our baby did not arrive early... this is Lucy O'Halloran, Gavin's Goddaughter. Tom was in our wedding and asked Gavin to be the "Godfather" as he calls himself so we were in Callan this weekend for the Christening. Looking at the photos, I can't believe that soon a similar photo will be taken with our Stinky Baby!!
Other good news today... one of my good friends in Ireland, Rosanne, had her little baby boy today - who unexpectedly arrived just under 3 weeks early. As I was with Rosanne on Sunday we went shopping for last minute things we needed for the baby/hospital (nightgowns, big pairs of undies etc etc) and I was giving out as she had still not packed her bag for the hospital but told me she was going to do it that night. Then, yesterday while I was grocery shopping she called me around 6ish to chat... no mention of any baby stirring but did say that she was never going to finish all the work she had to do before her last day on Friday! (Now she’s blaming me that packing her bag meant the baby could come… opps!!)
Oh well, the baby is here and I cannot wait to go visit them! Reality may just settle in when I see them as we’ve gone through our whole pregnancies only a few weeks apart!!

A plum also known as a prune....
If you've ever visited the Lorraine region of France you'll know what a Mirabelle is. If not it is a very sweet plum (smallish in size) which can be eaten as a fruit and made into jams, jellies etc. Randomly, the oil of the fruit is also in the new Clairns Tanning Mousse.
According to my mom, as I will not tell her Stinky Baby's name, she has determined that I should name the baby Mirabelle and has proceeded in calling the baby Mirabelle since I told her I was expecting in June. "How's Mirabelle doing?" "I made a new carseat baby bag for Mirabelle" You get the picture, only a few weeks ago she sent me the news that Mirabelle means "Wonderus and Lovely" and was even more convinced that this would make a great baby name. Now this is not Stinky Baby's name although after a while Mirabelle does grow on you. And although everyone is asking what Stinky Baby will be named - we're not telling but I can say that Mirabelle is unfortunately out of the running.

What's in a name?
So where did "Stinky Baby" come from? You're probably thinking that the name is only a preview to all the diapers/nappies that will be needing changing, the baby puke that will soon arrive and all the other wonderful smelly things that go with a new baby. However I hate to tell you, you're wrong... well at least partly wrong as I am sure the above mentioned events will soon become all too regular in our house!
The name comes from 3 influences in my life the first - my little brother JJ's soft toy doll, the second - my baby brother's favorite song as a child and lastly - our rescued puppy Dixie Dee Dunne
First, when JJ was a baby he had a soft toy toll that never left his side... ever. After a few years the state of what was known to everyone in our household as "Stinky Baby" was truly unbearable... the white skin was a soft grayish muck, the orange hair was no longer a vibrant orange color and the doll looked like he had seen better times. So my grandma got a great idea to buy a new doll, and to tell JJ "Stinky Baby" was getting a bath in the washing machine.... when she reached in and pulled the new doll, bright, shiny, no longer stinky out of the machine JJ lost it. I mean a full on mental, crying, tantrum breakdown.... "I want Stinky Baby"... and thus to this day "Stinky Baby" is still around in his state of pure dullness!
Secondly, move on a few years to Timmy (18 months or so) who insisted that we sing "Gingky Barn" to him. Now after a few days of trying to figure out what nursery rhyme/song "Gingky Barn" was, we finally realized that he wanted "Old McDonald" did not just have a farm but a "Stinky Farm" and thus Gingky Barn came to be "Old McDonald had a Stinky Barn". To this day I cannot sing the correct version of the song!
Lastly, Dixie Dee Dunne... our black and white pointer mutt. Now Gavin loves dogs all dogs, any dog, no matter how big, small or stinky they may be. Gavin goes to the point of regularly smelling the dogs ears and paws as he loves the "smell of dog". Which I find rather strange and very repulsive - I on the other hand give the dogs showers as often as possible to keep the "smell of dog" out of the house. Luckily Dixie (& Daisy our 2nd rescue dog) in terms off dog odor are not too smelly yet Dixie as somehow given the name "Stinky" to which we refer to her regularly.
So with this little one on the way only fitting "Stinky Baby Dunne" becomes the name of the bog.... now as to her actual name we're not telling until she arrives which has lead my mom to have a nickmake for her... but that is a story for another day.
Good night folks!
